Class G Security License

The Class G Security License is required to work as an armed security guard in the State of Florida. In accordance with Chapter 493 of the Florida Statutes, the armed security training course requires students to complete 28-hours of classroom and firearm training under the direction of a Class “K” licensed firearms instructor. To qualify for the Class G Security License Florida you must also complete the Security D Course or possess a C/CC Private Investigator License.

Security G License Requirements

The Armed Security License Florida Requirements to obtain the Florida gun license are:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be a United States citizen or deemed a permanent legal resident alien by the Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)
  • Must provide current RESIDENCE address
  • The State may deny your application if you: have a history of being arrested for crimes of violence and/or found guilty of (or had adjudication withheld for) directly related crimes. Trespassing, Breaking and Entering, Burglary, Robbery, Forgery, Criminal Mischief or Theft, Assault, Battery, Stalking, Aggravated Battery, Aggravated Assault, Sexual Battery, Kidnapping, Armed Robbery, Murder, Aggravated Stalking, Resisting an Officer with Violence

G Security License Certification

Students that pass the final exam and the range qualification will be given a certificate of completion to provide to the State when they apply for the Statewide Firearms License. Students will also receive a certificate of completion for the Florida concealed weapon license (CCW).

Armed Guard Security Jobs

To work Security G License Jobs in Florida, you must have your Security D License or be a Licensed Private Investigator in the State of Florida. The Statewide Firearms License in Florida allows security officers to carry a gun while working on duty. It is illegal to carry a firearm in the State of Florida while working as an Armed Security Officer, Bodyguard, Executive Protection, Security Driver or any jobs in security with a concealed carry/concealed weapons license. You may carry concealed working armed guard security with your Security Class D License and along with a Class G Firearms License on temporarily assigned duties. You can obtain the Class G Security License in Florida if you are under 21 years of age but cannot carry weapons concealed. The  Class G Security License is not the same as a Concealed Permit and is under different gun laws. The concealed is for personal gun carry only and is limited to where you can have a firearm.
