To work as an unarmed security guard in Florida, it will require 40 hours of security guard training to obtain the Florida security license. Once security guard training is completed, you can then start working security jobs. The state requires any security officer working private security under a security company to have a Class D Security License and to work armed security jobs, and the security guard must have a D and G license. What is a D security license?
The D security license is a necessary license issued by the Florida Division of Licensing. The D security license law mandates security officers to complete 40 hours of security guard training to be eligible to apply for the Florida d security license. The D security license is valid for two years and must be active to work security guard services. The state law does not allow the class d security license online, and the unarmed security guard training must be completed at a licensed security school. How to get a Class D Security License
If you’re seeking to obtain the Class D security license, you can attend our security guard training courses offered throughout Florida. Our security guard training for unarmed security is every week at our main security academies. We assist our students with the class D security license application requirements, and once students complete the security guard training, they will receive a security certificate of completion. To apply for the Class D Security License, The Division of Licensing requires a completed security guard application, be 18 Years of Age, no criminal issues within the past three years, be a Citizen or Permanent Resident, complete a Florida Department of Law Enforcement Background Check and successfully complete the 40-hour security guard training.
The Unarmed Security Guard Training Course
The unarmed security guard training will educate students on the Florida Laws that govern private security services and how to mitigate legal issues and liability. The security class will also cover Ethics, Public Relations, Crime Prevention Techniques, Report Writing, Terrorism Emergency Procedures, CPR & AED, and much more. no criminal charges within the past three (3) years
of good moral character
U.S. Citizen or a Legal Resident
You may be eligible for the security guard license if you are or were a Florida Certified law enforcement officer and or completed the Florida Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission for certification as a police officer or a corrections officer. Military veterans who were Military Police may also be eligible for the security guard license. Out of state law enforcement may be required to attend the 40 hours of security training. It is highly recommended that all those seeking to get into private security attend the 40 hours of training to understand the state laws and how the industry varies from law enforcement and the military.
