Hours of Annual Training for the Florida Class G Requalification
All holders of the Class G Statewide Firearms License must undergo 4 hours of annual Florida Class G Requalification training throughout each of the 2 years the license is valid. In 2013, Legislation made a revision in Florida Statutes Chapter 493; impacting how to report completion of the annual Florida Class G Requalification to the Division of Licensing.
Effective July 2013, the Class G licensee must send the original Certificate of Proficiency for the Class G Statewide Firearms License upon completion of the 4 hour annual Florida Class G requalification.
For example: If your Armed Security License was issued on October 12, 2013, you must take the 4 hours of re-qualification training before October 12, 2014, and immediately mail the original (white copy) Certificate of Proficiency to the following address.
Division of Licensing P.O. Box 5767 Tallahassee, FL 32314Also send a cover letter with the Certificate of Proficiency that states your name, address and G License number. If you do not have a cover letter, you risk the chance of your Certificate of Proficiency being lost or misplaced. Always make a copy of all your certificates. It is required that the K license instructor holds a copy of the Certificate of Proficiency on file for 2 years. Making a copy also helps you determine when you actually completed the recertification.
If the Certificate of Proficiency is not summited by the end of the first year of the 2-year valid term of the license, the license will be automatically suspended until the Certificate of Proficiency is summited. If the licensee does not complete the first year and or second year 4 hour Class G recertification they will be required by the Division to complete the entire 28 hour G Course again. It is illegal to have the Certificate of Proficiency backdated, if a licensee or K Instructor is caught backdating or signing off on a student that has not completed the required training they may risk losing their license along with a administrative fine by the State.
