& Firearms Instructors Providing Fraudulent Certifications. The State of Florida Division of Licensing continues to aggressively pursue security & firearms instructors associated with the issuance, sale, and discussion of providing false training certifications for the D and G licenses. Over 4,900 licensees have been determined of sending fraudulent certifications in order to obtain their Class D and or Class G licenses. The majority of this amount (almost 4,000) are Class “G” Statewide Firearms licensees. The other 1,000 licensees are Class “D” Security Officers. In addition, 33 Class “K” Firearms Instructors and 4 Class “DI” Security Instructors have been targeted in the States investigation. The Divison has actually opened 2,183 investigations against fraudulent activity. A total of 13 K instructors have been arrested and administrative fines in excess of $73,000 .
The industry is plagued by the low standards of training and overall it hurts the pay rates of all security officers in Florida.
