Resort and Gaming Security Department Security Officer

Provide a visual security presence to ensure that all guests and employees have a safe, secure and pleasant experience while visiting our venues. A Security Officer with Miccosukee Resort and Gaming is expected to be able to stand for an extended period of time and deal with a smoke filled environment.

Responsibilities:
• Patrols assigned areas to ensure that guests have a safe, secure and pleasant experience.
• Patrols assigned areas on foot or security vehicle checking for fires, vandalism, suspicious activity or persons or safety/fire hazards.
• Investigates and/or reports hazards, unusualor suspicious circumstances to police unit for correction or follow- up actions; maintains contact with police department.
• Observes activity and traffic in assigned area to enforce rules and regulations; alerts visitors of infractions.
• Assists any persons in building or on grounds needing directions or facility information.
• Escorts people/property to desired destination when monies, documents or safety of property or persons are a concern.
• Responds to alarms and dispatched calls; decides what actions to take based on situation, facts known and position limitations.
• May assist law enforcement officers with crowd control and surveillance at large public events.
• Security Officer shall monitor alarm systems, sign in and out keys to authorized personnel, admit staff and visitors to the building, check in and sign out deliveries, and answer the security office telephone.
• Be knowledgeable and understand the Emergency Action Plan and evacuation procedures and carry out emergency procedures as necessary.
• Security Officers report to the Director of Security.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

  • State of Florida “D” License for Unarmed Security Guard, and “G” License for Armed Security Officer
  • To be hired the applicant must have an active State of Florida “D” Security License, the applicant will need to obtain the State of Florida “G” Statewide Firearms License within 90 days of employment.
  • Must be able to work overnight and flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Excellent communication skills. Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.
  • Must be able to follow detailed procedures, and have good customer service skills.
  • Must be able to work collegially and independent of intensive supervision.
  • Experience in the security field helpful.

Part-time employment is guaranteed 36 hours per week maximum. Schedules with fewer hours can be arranged and approved on a case by case basis. Current basic pay for part-time Security Officers is $11.00-$12.42 per hour, with a $0.50 per hour differential for overnight shifts, all compensation will be determined on a case by case basis by the Human Resources Department.
